Remove an unwanted object from a picture

Bins, cables, signs, cars, clutter. Paint over whatever is spoiling the shot and it is filled in from around it.

The short version

Most photos have one thing in them you wish was not: a wheelie bin at the edge of the garden, a road sign cutting through the view, a stray cable across a wall. These are usually small, usually against something continuous, and usually the quickest possible win.

How to do it

  1. Drop the picture in.

  2. Paint over the clutter.

  3. Remove, then repeat for anything else you spot.

Questions

What is the fastest way to clear several small things?
Paint over all of them before pressing Remove. They are processed together in a single pass, which is quicker than one at a time.
Does the brush size matter?
Use one comfortably larger than the object. A generous selection gives the fill clean surrounding pixels to sample from.
Why did a thin cable leave a faint line?
Thin objects are often surrounded by their own soft edge. Increase the brush a little so the selection swallows that halo too.
Can I get the original back?
The original is never modified; only the downloaded copy differs. Reload or press New image to start again.
