Remove dust spots from a photo
Clear sensor dust and specks from skies and other flat areas. Tiny marks on smooth backgrounds vanish without a trace.
The short version
Sensor dust shows up as soft dark blobs in the sky, most obvious at narrow apertures. They are tiny and sit on a smooth gradient, so a quick dab over each one removes it without leaving anything behind at all.
How to do it

Dab over each spot with a small brush.

- Zoom to 100% and work across the sky systematically. Dust is easiest to spot against smooth, bright areas.
- Will the sky gradient stay smooth?
- Yes. A smooth gradient is the easiest thing to continue, and these repairs are effectively invisible.
- Spots over detailed areas?
- Harder to see and harder to fix, but they are also far less noticeable there, so they usually need no attention.
- Does this fix the dust itself?
- Only in the photo. The sensor still needs cleaning; this saves the shots you already have.
