Remove a photobomber from a picture
Someone wandered into your shot? Paint them out and the background behind them is filled back in. Distant figures clear up especially well.
The short version
The classic photobomb is a stranger in the mid-distance behind your subject, which is close to the best possible case: they are small in frame, and what is behind them is usually a continuous background rather than fine detail. Those come out clean often enough to be worth trying before you delete the shot.

Questions
- They are quite far back. Will that help?
- A lot. Distant figures occupy few pixels and usually sit against continuous background, which is the easiest thing to reconstruct.
- What if they overlap my subject?
- Then part of your subject is genuinely missing from the file, and the fill will guess at it. Overlap is the case to be pessimistic about.
- Should I paint tightly around them?
- Go slightly wide. A tight selection leaves a rim of their outline behind, which reads as a smear.
- Can I fix several people in one image?
- Yes. Paint over all of them in one pass, or do them one at a time using Keep editing between runs.
