The short version

Whether a picture out of ChatGPT carries a visible mark depends on how it was made and which plan made it, which is why people arrive at this looking for different things. Some exports come back clean, some carry a small corner badge, and video frames pulled out of Sora carry a logo that drifts around the frame as it plays. All three are the same job for a brush: cover the badge, let the pixels around it rebuild what was behind. Separately from anything visible, OpenAI attaches C2PA provenance metadata to its image files, and that is a property of the file rather than of the picture.

Questions

My ChatGPT image has no visible watermark. Why?
Not every export carries one. What you get back varies by the model that generated it and the plan it was generated on, so a clean corner is a perfectly normal result rather than a sign something went wrong.
Does this strip the C2PA metadata?
No. C2PA content credentials ride along in the file header, not in the picture, so a pixel editor does not reach them. Anything reading credentials will still find them on the file you download.
Can I clean a Sora video with this?
Not the video itself, only still frames taken from it. The badge in Sora footage moves between frames, so removing it from a clip means treating every frame, which is a different job from editing one picture.
Does the export lose quality?
The image is written back at the resolution you opened it with, and areas you never brushed are copied straight through. A JPEG is re-encoded once on the way out, which is the only place any softening could enter.
