Remove tourists from travel photos
Clear people out of a landmark shot. Works best on scattered, distant figures on open ground rather than a dense crowd up close.
The short version
Every landmark photo has people in it. Scattered figures on open ground (a plaza, a beach, a path) often come out well, because each one is small and surrounded by continuous texture. A dense crowd in front of the landmark is a different job, and honestly not one this can do.
How to do it
Drop the travel photo in.
Paint over the figures, working in small groups.
Remove, then repeat with Keep editing.
Questions
- How many people can it realistically clear?
- A handful of scattered figures, comfortably. A packed crowd leaves too little real background to rebuild from.
- Should I do them all in one go?
- Work in small groups and use Keep editing between passes. Each pass then has more clean context to sample.
- People on steps or patterned paving?
- Repeating patterns rarely line up across the gap. Expect a visible break in the pattern.
- Any way to make this easier next time?
- Shoot slightly wider than you need. Cropping people out with Snip always beats reconstructing what they were standing on.
